Birtley




The Rettig UK Distribution Centre is located at Birtley in County Durham, some 10 kilometres from the main UK production facility in Gateshead.

Formerly a domestic boiler plant, the 25,000 square metre site was converted into a warehousing facility in 1993.  Rettig then acquired the site with the acquisition of the ex-Blue Circle Heating radiator businesses including Myson Radiators Ltd in 2000.

The warehouse contains 2,300 circa stock lines, covering the brands of Purmo and Myson for the U.K.  Up to 15 inbound trailers and containers are unloaded every day at Birtley from the U.K. and Mainland Europe.  Rybnik, Poland; Jakobstad, Finland; Zonhoven, Belgium; Biache, France; Meiningen, Germany; Wartberg, Austria; Limerick, Ireland; Jarpas, Sweden,Turkey; Bolton, UK and Hull, UK are all suppliers to the warehouse. The combined annual volume is 2.4 million radiators per year. 

All products in the UK are delivered by Norbert Dentressangle.  The warehouse despatches over 40,000 radiators and 40,000 heating controls in the UK every week to some 1200 delivery points and also exports smaller quantities to the U.S.A. and mainland Europe, all products are despatched for next day delivery excluding exported products.

The plant prides itself on it high Customer Service Levels and consistently achieves over 98% delivery performance to the UK customer base.

The warehouse has adopted a Total Quality Management system that ensures the product is delivered efficiently without damage and the Environmental Management is certified by BSI to ISO 14001.
